Utilizing Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter on ES7000 Platform (CEL1007)

Objective: Provide students an learning opportunity to:

  • Explore ES7000 partition best practices
  • Design and implement a clustering environment
  • Set up SQL in the clustered environment
  • Enable Process Control features in Windows 2000 Datacenter
Audience:System administrators and personnel responsible for maintaining a Windows 2000 Datacenter running in a high availability environment.

Prerequisites: Students should have attended the Unisys ES7000 Administration and Operations (CEL1000), have daily experience in operating and maintaining a system running Windows 2000 and SQL.

ES7000/one and 600 Series - System Administration and Operations (CEL1066)


Length: 2 days

Overview: This session introduces the student to the foundational aspects of the ES7000/one and 600 Series Server. The course begins with the benefits provided by the ES7000/one and 600 Series Server. A key component of the ES7000/one system is the Real-Time Infrastructure which provides enhanced system operation. An understanding of the hardware and software component is presented through discussion on the CMP architecture of the system. Student will use their knowledge of components to build a system configuration. While working the system partitions students will begin their journey into the Sentinel world.

Audience: ES7000 administrators and implementers.

Objectives: At completion, the student should be able to:

  • Complete the steps necessary to set up and configure an ES7000/one/600 series server
  • Identify and locate system and operational faults and warnings
  • Review and describe procedures for handling customer replaceable system modules
  • Describe the primary components that comprise an ES7000/one and 600 Series server system
  • Describe the features of the Unisys Server Sentinel software
  • Locate and define various system and partition commands and settings
  • Explain the process of installing an OS on a system partition
Prerequisites: Experience managing and operating Windows NT, Windows 2000 or 2003 Servers.

Server Sentinel Operations (level 4.x) (CEL1067)


Length: 3 days

Overview: This session introduces the student to the multi-tier architecture of the Server Sentinel environment. Server Sentinel User Interface, Sentinel Dashboard, AppManager product from NetIQ, and the Server Sentinel Application Manager Release are presented including Server Sentinel hardware and software components and how they interact. AppManager Operator Console layout, functionality, and uses are discussed with an introduction to Managed Objects, Events, data collection, and Knowledge Scripts.

Audience: ES7000 administrators and implementers.

Objectives: At completion, the student should be able to:

  • Describe the Server Sentinel Component Architecture, related software, and the use of the Unisys Installation Assistant.
  • Access the Server Sentinel User Interface.
  • Navigate through the Server Sentinel Health Dashboard and the Operator Console
  • Describe the Application Manager Architecture.
  • Use object matching Knowledge Scripts.
  • Recognize Events and describe why they occurred.
  • Create, modify, and execute Knowledge Script groups and monitor performance of partitions.
  • Describe the uses for Diagnostic Data Collection, Contrast Manager, Autonome, and Event Log Viewer.

ES7000 Model 7600R Maintenance and Operation for Technical Personnel (CES1069)

Length: Approximately 8 hours; self-paced.

Overview: This course will prepare a technically knowledgeable person with server maintenance and installation experience to properly install and set up a Unisys ES7000 Model 7600R server system. The student will be presented with knowledge covering the architecture and features available with the Model 7600R server. Through reading assignments and video presentations the student will walk through the steps necessary to prepare the Model 7600R server system to function in the customer environment. Students will also be shown procedures for removal and replacement of (CRU) Customer Replacement Units.

Audience: Technical support personnel responsible for installing, managing, and maintaining Unisys ES7000 Model 7600R servers and systems.

Objectives: Upon completing the course students will be able to:
  • Explain the architecture of the Model 7600R server
  • Install the hardware and configure system features
  • Operate the server using the Server Management Manager
  • Execute troubleshooting procedures
  • Remove and replace CRUs (Customer Replacement Unit)

Prerequisites: Unisys Server Management Software 2.0 or 2.1 training or experience is recommended.
